In this post we expose some pretty “slimy” truths about what’s lurking in conventional laundry care products.
1. YOUR DETERGENT IS FULL OF CHEMICALS
We’ve been trained to think sudsy laundry products are safe, when in reality they are not. Some chemicals in detergent are neurotoxic, endocrine disrupting, and even carcinogenic.
If a manufacturer uses less than 1% of a given chemical or fragrance in a finished product, they simply don’t have to tell you about it. Because there is little to no supervision or regulation in the industry, most fragrances haven’t been truly tested for safety.
Would you agree it’s time for change?
Watch the video above to find out what chemicals are in your detergent.
At MyGreenFills, we disclose all of our product ingredients, so that you can make an informed and safe buying decision.
2. LAUNDRY JUGS ARE DANGEROUS
In the U.S. alone, over 1 billion plastic laundry jugs are used each year. End to end, that’s enough to circle the planet 6 times!
Check out the video above to see just how dangerous non-recycled plastic is to our planet.
We can change this now. Join the refillable laundry revolution!
3. DETERGENT BREAKS DOWN FABRICS
Over time, the constant build up of laundry detergent, coupled with high heat drying, corrupts and separates material fibers.
Most slimy laundry products are made from synthesized petroleum or plant-based oils that are specifically designed to leave behind a film on our clothing and linens.
In this video post, we explain why.
4. LAUNDRY SLIME MAKES YOUR WASHER STINK
Virtually all conventional detergents (even the so called “eco-detergents”) use phosphate or sulphate-derived suds-makers. Not only do these detergents leave behind a slimy film on your bloomers, they also coat the inside of your washing machine.
These chemicals, combined with the warm and moist conditions of our washers, are a perfect breeding ground for bacteria. Yuck!
This video demonstrates how this happens:
MyGreenFills will literally clean your washer and remove any funky bacteria that may be in there
5- DETERGENT IN YOUR BLOODSTREAM
Studies show that up to 60% of what you put on your skin can be absorbed into your bloodstream.
When conventional laundry detergent mixes together with perspiration, micro-suds are created on your skin and get absorbed into your bloodstream.
Watch this video demonstration to see how this is possible.
If you find this as disturbing as we do, you’ll be pleased to know MyGreenFills products aren’t filled with harmful surfactants, buffers, brighteners, and dyes. Our products are safe for you, your family, and your laundry room.
